Working Moms>> Can we ever be Guilt-Free Moms?

Add caption
Time and again it has been easier said than done to follow advice of not feeling guilty while you are a working mom. No matter how much you hate it or love it, a working mom guilt is sure to follow in one form or the other. My previous blog post on "Why Should Indian Working Moms Feel Guilty?"got an amzing response from the working as well as Smart mom at home (SAHM). Working mom's guilt it's actually unavoidable, infact sometime even when you are content there are many factors to make you feel so?

Like few days back when during lunch hour I happen to visit my lo's Daycare to hand over her evening snack box. Oh! don't raise your eyebrows, I don't do this everyday, this was one of those days when I was running late and yes forgot to pack her evening snack box.. Of course things were not as relaxing as the way I am now (9:32pm), like writing this blog post while lying on my bed comfortably before I snooze off. I was full in rush till the time I handed over the snack box to the care taker with the labeled attached.

I am an urban mom who is very opinionated and loves her Independence too. So if at all people are there to put me down and so criticism is concerned it does affect my happiness and does not make me feel guilty. But that fine day what made me feel guilty or something emotional was that when I requested the Daycare school that can I look at the live video streaming now like what is my doll doing? The admin person smiles at me and paused for 2-3 seconds and said, "Sure, why not, But ma'am she is already sleeping. You can see the video right here at the reception."

I moved closer to the screen anxiously looking for my lo and yes I spotted my daughter. She had few sips of water and then covered herself till waist and slept off, with no tantrums. She was so cutely sleeping tucking her knees inwards tummy and joining her hands to each other. I so much wanted to hug her and cuddle her that time, but i did not wanted to ruin her daycare routine and of course I had to head back to work too. The feeling I went through was guilty or not , umm and I really don't know what it was but made me feel very different and yes it did make me feel if I was not working, I could have cuddled her ;-)

But to all the working moms my simple advice to be happily working mom is to accept the fact that it's a simple fact of physics that a working mom isn't going to witness every single minute of the growing days of her child. Also as I have been Smart mom at home too, we as SAHM also not actually enjoy witnessing each and every moment at home raising child and at times kids just want to play with their age group friends.

So in short, it's okay to miss out on some sweet and precious moments. Be it SAHM or working super mom, we all miss out on few little things, isn't?

Watch Video>>How to make DIY Easy Rakhi?

Rakhi brings lot of memories from childhood like during school we use to make rakhi in our SUPW classes. Though we are two sisters but we enjoyed making Rakhi and tying the same to our God brothers. It was real fun with nice shimmery ethnic clothes , sweets and amazing food followed after memories.

This year my lo is 3 years plus so I made her make DIY Rakhi all by herself. Of course I gave her pre-cut felt flowers and pearls to stick on with double sided glue tape and no scissors used by her. She not only enjoyed making but also we both couriered the same to her cousin Brothers Aryan and Rishabh. Below are the photos of DIY Rakhi making by Erishka with my help>>
Things we need pre-glued pearls, satin and pre-cut shapes
Things you need to make the above pics DIY Rakhi (for 3 years old) are;
  • All-purpose gluePre-cut felt shapes like flower/star/circle
  • 1 or 1/2 metre thin satin ribbon
  • Pre-glued pearls of all sizes and colours
  •  Double sided stick on tape

Below are the detail step-by-step method to make quick and easy DIY Rakhi by 3 year old toddler;

Step 1 - Take a half meter satin ribbon of any color.
Fold it in half and mark centre with double sided glue tape.

Step 2 - Stick pre-cut felt shape over it and press neatly.

Glue the ends of shape with the satin ribbon
Step 3 -  Stick pre-glued pearl of big size on the centre

Step 4 -And then stick smaller size of pre-glued pearls in ends of the shape , like this one in the above pic it's placed over each end of petals. So for star shape you can place it at the each corner of the star.
Step 5 - Tada! 5 mins  rakhi is ready. Even a 3 year old kid can also make this just like Erishka, toddlres enjoy sticking activity with colours and objects.

For older kids like above 5 years below are few amazing videos on Youtube which shows how to make DIY Rakhi in more detail description, step-by-step sub-title>> A must watch video to make quick, easy and an attractive Rakhi on this Rakshabandhan.

Flaxseeds Power Balls>> Recipe from ‘Kids Kitchen’

By Nidhi Pathak | Follow us on Facebook|

A yummy power balls made with freshly made with whole wheat chappatis, jaggery and ghee. It's mommy approved and loved by kids. Trust me it’s a foolproof trick to make kids eat rotis with a count and adults can just pop it like power balls in busy their busy lifestyle.

This laddoos are made since quite some time in Indian household, but I am adding flaxseeds to increase it’s nutritive value and choco-chips for kids giving much soft and smooth texture.

4-5 Rotis
1/2 cup jaggery
4-6 tbsp spns ghee (Clarified butter)
1/2 cup of flaxseeds (crushed)
2-3 tbl Brown sugar/castor sugar
1/2 tsp cardamom powder (optional)
2 tbsp Choco-chips (Optional)

  1. Take a pan , and heat ghee on low flame. Add crushed jaggery and choco-chips (optional), and stir with wooden stick/spatula.
  2. After stirring it for less than a minute add crushed chappatis, I used chutney grinder to get fine texture of chapattis. Keep stirring it, with no lumps.

  1. Then add crushed flaxseeds and increase the flame. Keep stirring with wooden stick and sprinkle sugar and cardamom seasoning. Switch off the stove.

  1. Shift the whole mixture into big plate/tray, and start moulding rounds like balls immediately after taking it off from the vessel. As it becomes difficult to mould the ladoos when the mixture is cooled off.

  1. Place laddoos in a box, do not touch them till it's hot. Once cooled, close the lid of the box and store it refrigerator for 10-15 mins to that ladoos does not break and stays firm.

  1. It can be also stored in an air-tight container too for 5-6 days. Sugar and ghee acts as natural preservative and will restore the freshness and nutrients for the ladoos. For variations you may add dry-fruits too.

Nutritional Facts>>

  • Flaxseeds are a rich source of micronutrients, dietary fiber, manganese, vitamin B1, and the essential fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid, also known as ALA or omega-3. Regular consumption of flaxseeds gives you healthy hair and skin.
  • Ghee / Clarified Butter is a staple in traditional Indian cooking and Ayurvedic medicine. Much like butter, ghee / clarified butter has gotten a bad reputation. over the past 30 years due to its high saturated fat content. But research has revealed that instead of increasing the risk of heart disease, ghee actually decreases it — and that’s not the only trick it has up its sleeve. Ghee made from grass-fed butter is packed with vitamins A, D, E and K, as well as fatty acids CLA and butyric acid, leading to some interesting health benefits.
  • Jaggery include its ability to cleanse your body, act as a digestive agent, sweeten your food in a healthy manner, and provide good amounts of minerals.  It’s also a great remedy for anemia, asthma, joint pains and menstrual pains. It also helps in cures cold and cough, purifies blood and keeps the skin flawless. It is an energy booster if at all you feel drained at any point of the day, a piece of jaggery with water can do wonders for you.  Jaggery is a rich source of iron and hence it is a great remedy for women/kids suffering from anemia.
  • Wheat helps to control obesity, protects against childhood asthama, improves body metabolism. Wheat is the most popular and easily available bulk laxative. Three cups of wheat consumption per day is enough for an individual to live a long, healthy and disease-free life.

Yoga For All will unlock the ‘Yoga Body’ Myth!

On 21st August, MomzSpace in association with Venue Partner 'Art Blend Cafe' will be hosting a Wellness Workshop for women and mothers from Bangalore. We are proud to announce that Luvena Rangel, founder of 'The Curvy Yogi', would personally conduct the Yoga and wellness session followed an interactive Q & A

Agenda>> Yoga For All will unlock the ‘Yoga Body’ Myth!
Believe it or not, despite the fact that Yoga has been practiced in India over centuries by now, but we still end up 'Googling' with the search word Yoga tips and poses for 'Size Zero'. Sadly, we still relate Yoga with the pre-defined notion that only slim and skinny people can do or we end up joining yoga class to be that picture perfect body. Arggh! If you also think so , am sorry to say but thats all you know is a sheer Yoga myth.

The reality is that “yoga body” does not need to have a single definition, except perhaps that it is just that, a body that does yoga asanas with no exertion but with ease. Yoga is not about competing with one another, Yoga is not about 'Size zero'! It's for all shapes and sizes, and certainly not a fad tool. When we say Yoga is for all means, "Yoga is for everybody, everybody with all shapes and sizes. there is nothing called Idol Yoga body, Yoga is for all. Everyone's body can be Yoga body, it has nothing to do with size or shape."

Spread the 'love' with Monday Morning selfie Mania

After summer slacker, here come the fall!!!
Heylos to lovely moms out there. How are you? I finally feel like I'm getting my feet under me again. I've been such a slacker after summer holidays and then got busy ongoing social commitments. Adding more trouble to my hectic schedule I had to run about hospitals for orthopedics , chiropractor and other test to be done to finally understand whats wrong with my left leg. And also it's time when your child somehow comes to know you need rest, but ain't going well with her never-ending demands at home

Despite of all the challenges at work and home front, MomzSpace successfully participated at #TSC2015 the #TheSocialConclave2015 at  Christ University. The entire meet was bunch of amzing speaker at the panel but I personally enjoyed more the talks by the Ritu David (Beauty with loads of brain ), Dr. Falguni Vasavda Oza (From MICA, heaps of experience shared with dash of humour) and Suresh Babu (Founder & CEO of Web Marketing Academy and the most cheerful and energetic speaker at the meet). It was great to connect with them in person and get more insight into social media trends and tactics.

Loved to be part of E-Chai launch at The Social Conclave 2015 with the trademark smiley balls and also Co-hosted Entrepereneurs meet with E-chai at Tattva and CCD Lounge. Meeting new people at startup, and business networking meets helped me to gain knowledge, exchange ideas and share my feedback and views. It kept me going and I loved attending every bit of it.

Taking rest, and getting back to normal health routine like eating at right time, eating healthy saying no to some work and such things are not so relaxing either. So what kept me going while I was taking rest was a bunch of enthu women and moms for which with the help of some mommy friends like Debolina, Simran, PriyaMani we rolled out an amazing schedule to keep all the mommy friends and women participant active on virtual support platform.

I just wanted to share with you a quick activity to do if you need some down time -- quiet time!

We started a campaign called 'Monday Morning Selfies' with a bunch of enthu moms and powerful women of my community. The idea was to post your Monday morning selfie, with a beaming smile and sparkling eyes and sending more positive vibes to all other members in the group. It was good to see everyone posted their pic and sent positivity at the same time. Like me one more lady in group was also recovering from

Here is the collage of best selfie pics I received on monday morning. Proud to announce Anjali as ‪#‎mondayselfie‬ winner at ‪#‎Womensworld‬ she has brightest of all smile with victory medal... Each #selfie has its own story to tell yet with sparkling eyes beaming smile... Winner of #momzmeet at #momzspace of. #mondaymorning selfie is Arpita for her retro style mirror selfie.

Winner Farheen and her daughters selfie,
kept us guessing about who is mother an who is the daughter?!

This week was amazing as myself and anusha (Tanjore Artist) almost recovered from lil bit of health issues we had. I and anusha look fit and fresh, isn't? Good to see mom entrepreneur setting out for the day, recycle enthu keerti took her selfie with upcyled plastic bottle planter. Some were heading to dance class and some were just in from workout. The best of all i liked was the Selfie taken by Farheen with her daughter, we all failed who identify who is mother and who is the daughter, Farheen looks gorgeous :-)

    Winner of Women's World Selfie,
Bindu looked amazing on Monday Morning Selfie taken at workplace
At women's world group everyone were equally enthusiast about this campaign called, Monday Morning Selfie Mania. winner for this week was Bindu who donned amazing personality reflecting independence and her love for self. Wow thats what I call magic of Monday Morning Selfie, we love being like this and send positive vibes to all we meet and give a great start to the week. Thanks all who ever participated.
