Flashback2012>> Erishka's First Navratri

Here is my little one's first Navratri celebration ever when she was just about 3months or little more. I dressed her in a black and red colour sequined backless Choli layered on black t-shirt and a matching Ghaghra (pleated skirt) with full-legth cotton pants underneath. This beautiful Ethnic navratri outfit was selected by her Rinky Maasi
Yay! This pic is Erishka's and mine first participation together for the competion of Best Dressed Baby. And guess what she won a cute bright yellow colour Helicopter of finger size with blue rolling tracks. I really the oraganiser ofthe event who promply helped me hold erishka when I was speaking in mike. I simply love the Shree Indiranagar Gujarati Association, for hosting a family and kids friendlt event in year 2012 and they continue to do same till date.
In the above pic meet her fellow contestant, all were damn cute and full of spark. The best part of the event was they served Fafda and Jalebi , not so hot but being in Bangalore me as mommy and blogger cant expect more.. Simply enjoyed it!
In the above pic Erishka my Pink doll is all cladded in pink and green glittery Chaniya Choli sent for her from all the way from Jamnagar by her Fia Riddhi. She looks stunning in this vibrant colours isn't?
Yes, to do kiddish matching-matching I wore Magenta pink. The entire event wa sfull of lights, colur and music. She loved starring at all participants who wear dancing. Me adn my hubby took a turns to play and babysit my lo.
Our first ever family selfie, and this one is way too special as it's first ever festival for three of us.
Thanks Akshaye (My hubby) for making this possible, we both missed you for this year Diwali celebration.

Watch this space for recent festive pics from Dandiya nights and also lot many outs have been sent by her Rinky maasi from Gujarat Ahemedabad. And yes now she is big Girl , big enough to take her own selfie, pose smartly and take mine and my hubby's pic too

Worth A Read>> 'Count the Day Lost'

Heylos to all lovely moms, here is my pick for today's Worth A Read! It's not a cross post, or a guest blog by any mommy blogger but a Poem by my personal favourite Mary Ann Evans. She marks the dynamic presence where the world of poetry was dominated by males.  She contributed her works under pen name George Eliot, thinking that the society will take her work more seriously if penned with male name. Nevertheless be it her poem or quotes; all have been very inspiring to me.

I am sharing one of my favourite works of her which is 'Count the Day Lost'.

Count the Day Lost
George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans)
If you sit down at set of sun
And count the acts that you have done,
And, counting, find
One self-denying deed, one word
That eased the heart of him who heard,
One glance most kind
That fell like sunshine where it went --
Then you may count that day well spent.

But if, through all the livelong day,
You've cheered no heart, by yea or nay --
If, through it all
You've nothing done that you can trace
That brought the sunshine to one face--
No act most small
That helped some soul and nothing cost --
Then count that day as worse than lost.

Mary Anne (alternatively Mary Ann or Marian) Evans, better known by her pen name George Eliot, was an English novelist, journalist and translator, and one of the leading writers of the Victorian era. She is the author of seven novels, including Adam Bede (1859), The Mill on the Floss (1860), Silas Marner (1861), Middlemarch (1871–72), and Daniel Deronda (1876), most of them set in provincial England and well known for their realism and psychological insight.
She used a male pen name, she said, to ensure her works would be taken seriously. Female authors were published under their own names during Eliot's life, but she wanted to escape the stereotype of women only writing lighthearted romances. An additional factor in her use of a pen name may have been a desire to shield her private life from public scrutiny and to prevent scandals attending her relationship with the married George Henry Lewes, with whom she lived for over 20 years.

Her 1872 work, Middlemarch, has been described as the greatest novel in the English language by Martin Amis and Julian Barnes. Read more ...

10 Famous Quotes by George Eliot>>

  1. It is never too late to be what you might have been.
  2. Blessed is the influence of one true, loving human soul on another.
  3. The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us, and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone.
  4. Blessed is the man who, having nothing to say, abstains from giving us wordy evidence of the fact.
  5. Our deeds determine us, as much as we determine our deeds.
  6. Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them.
  7. The strongest principle of growth lies in the human choice.
  8. It will never rain roses: when we want to have more roses, we must plant more roses.
  9. There are many victories worse than a defeat.
  10. One must be poor to know the luxury of giving.

Worth A Watch>> Listen. Full Stop to Child Sexual Abuse!

With the reference to my ongoing articles on creating awareness on the most sensitive topic of Indian parenting, i.e.'Child Sexual Abuse' (CSA). Some how I keep looking for information or snippets which could make the communication on CSA in much easier way for Indian parents like me. So the Video I am sharing below found very helpful for young parents to understand the signs of CSA. I request you all to share as much as you can.

On 23rd September 2015, a short film on child sexual abuse (CSA), driving home the message that children are not safe even in so-called safe havens like our homes, schools and gyms. Observe and listen to your children: they may be trying to tell you something either by words, drawings or their behavioural changes. Seek to understand your child. Watch Video Here>>

So all you smart mommies if at all you come across across any information regarding Child Sexual Abuse which could help in creating more awareness for the same among young parents, then please share or email me at These small efforts could be a great help for other parents who are ignorant.
